Train Themed Birthday Invitations

I have had so much fun finding and pinning ideas, arts, crafts and recipes that I fear I will never get around to doing any of them unless I jump right in…. So I am starting a Pinterest Project Thursday Meme. Every Thursday {hopefully I can keep this up for a while} I will tackle a Pinterest Project and share with you both the original “Pin” as well as my version of the project. This can be arts, crafts, recipes, or projects… pretty much anything. I encourage you to join in! One Pinterest Project at a time!

This week I am sharing with you my Train Birthday Party Invitations!

The original Pin for the Modern Train Inspiration:

My son is going to be turning three years old this February and I have started planning his birthday party. My toddler is going to be having a train themed birthday party.  He loves all things trains! He loves both Thomas the train and Chuggington and he absolutely adores playing with his wooden railway! I think it is the perfect theme for his birthday party.

I have drawn most of the inspiration for this party from Pinterest {surprise surprise}.  I like the idea of a modern train party as opposed to seeing Thomas' face plastered over everything. I think that a train party can be done tastefully and without breaking the bank. And thanks to Pinterest and the people who have created the pins I so adore, I found exactly what I want for my sons train themed birthday party.

There is not one specific pin that I am going to use for the whole party. I have pinned quite a few train party themed inspirations and plan on drawing on them all for my son’s party.

The first pin that I have used as my inspiration is for my son’s birthday party invitation. I saw this Thomas the train invitation that looks like a train ticket and I knew immediately that I wanted to do something like this for my son’s birthday party. He loved to hand out tickets, collect tickets, and punch tickets. Perfection!

Like I said earlier, I did not want a straight up Thomas themed party. I want a train themed party minus the cartoon faces... Modern and classy and fun. So I took the inspiration and ran with it.

I found a picture of a train that is modern and clean and has the Thomas and friends cloud and I am using it at the major train image for my party. I got this image from another pin that I am using as well for my train party inspiration.

I used this image and opened it in my computers Paint application and went to town altering the text and creating my sons train themed birthday party invitation. Creating the invitation using multiple text fonts and making sure everything was just so took a little more time than I originally thought it would take, but I am happy with the results.

Rating: ****
I originally had the background as a really pretty blue, but it made the fonts really pixilated when I sent it to the printers. Instead, I printed these off in the comfort of my own home and took out my scrapbook paraphernalia to assemble an invitation I could be proud of.  I am happy with the results and even more pleased with the price {$0 since I did it myself at home}. The reason this is getting four stars instead of five is because it took so long to do it, especially since I had to do it twice!

What do you think?
