I love great products. When
I happen upon a great product I cannot help but share my thoughts and opinions
about it with everyone I know. A while ago I had the opportunity to review the Motorola MBP36-2 Remote
Wireless Video Baby monitor and I loved it. I still love it and use it
regularly. It is so fun being able to see what my little guys are doing when
they think they are not being watched.
Recently Motorola asked me
if I would like to review another video baby monitor of theirs, a more compact
model. Of course I said yes! After setting up the Motorola MBP18 I did a little
happy dance; as this baby monitor did not skimp on the quality. There are some
seriously awesome features in this compact but highly efficient package.
I have used this monitor nonstop
from the moment it entered my house. There are a lot of reasons to love this
little monitor, first and foremost is the fact that the picture and sound
quality is outstanding. It has video
capabilities, audio capabilities, and zoom capabilities. Aside from that – which in itself is reason
enough to love it, it is also a wireless
rechargeable unit. Love it!

What we love about the
Motorola MBP18 Digital Wireless
Video Baby Monitor:
My favorite feature of this unit is that the
camera unit that comes with the MBP18 has an incredible turn radius. What I
mean to say is that I can position this camera on a surface and then turn the
camera itself up and down as well as angle it {most camera units do not allow
for the user to twist the camera to face at an angle.} This feature means that
I can place my camera unit on the highest point of my crib and angle it down to
get the best unobstructed view of my baby as possible. AWESOME!
I love the picture quality on this unit; it
is crystal clear and in vibrant color! The 1.8” color LCD screen is great! It
is not too small that I have to squint to see what is going on, but it is not a
big bulky monitor that is difficult to carry around either. It is a wonderful
compact monitor that does the job.
When in night vision
mode, the light on the camera unit is not too bright. This means that the light
is not keeping my children awake at night and I am still able to get a clear
picture of my child sleeping.
It is really easy to use
the MBP18. The volume buttons are easily displayed right on the front as is the
zoom feature. The menu button gives me the option of changing the brightness,
setting a timer, switching camera units, and adding or removing additional
cameras. Displayed across the top of the LCD screen are a range indicator, the
camera unit being shown, and the battery life of the parent unit.
This is a digital
wireless video baby monitor. You charge it, unplug it, and go! I carry it
around the house with me as I do chores and as of yet have not made it out of
the monitors range {2.4 gigahertz Wireless Frequency
Band with a radio range of up to 500ft}.
The
unit comes with AC adapters that have pictures on them of which unit they are
supposed to plug into. Genius. I don’t know about you, but I hate having to
read the manual to figure out which voltage goes with what unit and then try
and read that teeny tiny print on the plugs… This might make me a little lazy,
but these pictures make it so much easier for me especially when I am not
functioning at full capacity at 3am.
This
monitor is perfect for at home or on the road, as it is a pretty small but
highly efficient baby monitor. I like that the camera unit does not have to be
placed high up on a wall in order to get a good angle inside of a crib/pack and
play. With a unit this small I would have liked to have seen a belt clip
attachment option {as this is an extremely lightweight monitor that would be
very easy to carry around on a belt or to hook onto clothing}, but this is
definitely not a deal breaker.
When
researching online I was unable to come across the ability to purchase
additional cameras separately, but the ability to add onto this parent unit
with three additional cameras is already in place. I am sure that it is only a
matter of time before additional cameras becomes available. I have had no
problems with this camera and love all the features that they have packed into
this fun little unit. What’s more, this unit is priced well at around $129.97
{current price online at time of publication} especially when I compared it to
other video baby monitors on the market.
