Recently my family had the opportunity to go to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s new Built To Amaze event in Chicago. We took both of the boys this time around. We were thinking that the younger one was old enough to enjoy it and be able to sit in a seat without causing too much of a distraction to the people around us. He did great! My children enjoyed the show
so much that on the way home from the event they both asked when we could go
back.
Tabayara Maluenda was my younger son’s favorite performer and I cannot
say as I blame him – as it is not every day that you see a person give 300lb
tigers a kiss. He was gentle and playful with the tigers and it was fun to see
him interact in a friendly manner with those big cats.
Speaking of animals the elephant segment of the show was wonderful. I love seeing the Asian elephants perform. They are beautiful creatures and I was thrilled to be able to see one of them up close at the pre-show festivities.
Last year we took my oldest son to see The Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey presents Dragons and we loved it. The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s new Built To Amaze event in Chicago was fun and entertaining for the whole family and I am so glad that we decided to bring both of the boys to see it. We will definitely be turning this into a family tradition. I cannot wait to see what they come up with next year!

We arrived an hour early so that we could walk around and participate in
the pre-show entertainment. There were acrobats, clowns, elephants, and even a
bounce house. There was a place to get temporary tattoos – which my oldest just
needed to do. I would highly recommend
coming early to participate in the pre-show.
We got
a cotton candy, sprite, and big bag of popcorn for the kiddos to enjoy while
watching the show. This year I remembered to pack wet wipes and – boy was I
thankful that I remembered. My children are unable to eat cotton candy without
it turning their hands into sticky mess makers. Everyone enjoyed their snacks –
mess and all. There were also a lot of other super fun things you could purchase as well. My children went crazy over the thought of a light up sword.
The Ringmaster and his assistants were great and built a fun and
entertaining story and rivalry throughout the show. Andre McClain was a fabulous Ringmaster and
Alex & Irina Emelin were great project managers that captured my children’s
attention and had them rooting for team blue.
My children both laughed nonstop at the clowns and their antics and I
have to say that this portion had me giggling as well. I was happy to see that
the clowns got a nice chunk of time to perform this time around. They were
funny and had a great little “clean up” act to add to the show that was very
memorable.
