As a mom of two boys I like to try and stay on top of what is hip and cool for kids. I am an open-minded individual who is always willing to try something at least once. I was given the opportunity to review a pair of Heelys shoes through a Buisiness2Blogger campaign. I, of course, jumped at the chance to try out these shoes.
In case you have never heard of Heelys shoes, let me enlighten you. According to Heelys website, “Heelys are the two-in-one shoe that lets you take life at your own pace. With the wheels out, the stylish designs perform and look just like any other shoe. When you easily put the wheels in, you roll at a different speed. Heelys are about exploring your freedom, unleashing the fun and empowering you to be fearless.”
My Heelys arrived shortly after I placed my order. I chose the all black 7673 Wave Heelys in the hopes that I would be able to use them with my black workout wear. As a size 10 shoe wearing woman, I like to think that black is sliming. When the package arrived it contained my Heelys 7673 Wave shoes as well as two rubber inserts and two wheel inserts. Pictured here are the Heelys Wave shoe in white as well as a picture of my Heelys in black.
These shoes are well made with quality materials and excellent craftsmanship. They look like they are going to last quite a while. The style of shoe that I chose is clean, simple, and gender neutral. I wanted something that I could wear with everything, so I went with the all black Wave.
Heelys can be used with either wheels or rubber inserts, both of which are provided. The rubber insert can be used in place of the wheels turning skating shoes into tennis shoes. These are truly multi-functional shoes.
Time to take my Heelys for a spin…
I would love to be able to say that I put on my Heelys and was able to go go go. But alas, this was not the case for me. Although I have not fallen once, I have by no means mastered the art of wearing Heelys.
I am not the most coordinated person. I have a tendency to fall down stairs, bump into walls, and trip over my own two feet while walking. So when I say that I have not taken a nosedive in my Heelys, it is a BIG deal. As far as safety is concerned, I would tell you to use your common sense. These are shoes with wheels.
Like everything else in life, practice makes perfect. In order to confidently wear Heelys one must practice using them. Every time I put on my Heelys and skate around I get a little bit better. I am always careful and safety conscious when I wear these shoes.
My two year old LOVES the Heelys. He likes to hold onto mommy’s legs and go for a ride whenever I put them on. If he is not attached to me, he wants to race me. We have spent countless hours racing back and forth through the kitchen as well as up and down the driveway. My son’s new favorite game is Heelys.
I am not elegant nor am I graceful in my Heelys, at least not yet. I do however have a lot of fun wearing them. My little peanuts get a kick out of them too!
I am sure you have seen kids rolling around in their Heelys. If you haven’t, maybe now that you have heard of Heelys you will SEE them more.
