My
mom is my best friend. I talk her almost every day and sometimes a couple times
a day. Whenever something big happens I have to share it with my mom. Whenever
I am stressed out and feel like my head is going to explode, I call my mom.
Whenever I need real advice {she keeps it real... even when I am in the wrong.}
I confer with my mother. Some of the best advice I have ever received I got
from my mother.
I
have decided to share some of these golden nuggets of advice with you.
“Never go to sleep angry.”
My mother shared this golden nugget of advice with me once I was married. This advice has served me well so far. Whenever something or someone upsets me I deal with it. I tackle dilemmas when they happen and try not to let things fester. It has forced me to forgive and let go of petty things that don’t matter and say my peace about things that do matter.
“Be flexible.”
This
is a work in progress for me. It is the former teacher in me that wants to keep
life nice, neat, and organized. I am a schedule keeper and a list maker.
Letting go and being flexible is something that I have to continuously work on.
It appears that the more children I have the easier this gets for me. Life does
not adhere to my schedules.
“Family is the most important thing that there is.”
I
moved around a lot growing up and was the new kid almost every time I turned
around. Coming from a family of five children, I always had friends to play
with no matter where we moved. My brothers and my sisters were my best friends
when I was a kid and they still are today. I hope that I can raise my children to value
family as much as I do.
The best advice
my mother ever gave me:
Some golden nuggets
of advice from Karen at The
Mommy Times “Give your baby something to hold when you change him.”
When Brock was born (nearly 9 yrs ago), she showed me that trick and it worked like a charm!
“Do not let anyone intimidate you, always hold your head up and
stand your ground...and know that sometimes the less said the better...”
“Always try to be very lady like.”
--and
I am -- still to this day.
“Treat others the way you want to be treated.”
The best advice
my mother ever gave me:
A golden nugget of
advice from Brett at This Mama Loves Her Bargains:
"Always let your husband think he has the last word."
The best advice
my mother ever gave me:
A golden nugget of
advice from Amy at Grinning Cheek to Cheek:
“Honesty is key.”
When you're honest up front people trust
you more and friends love you that much more. Also she taught me a lot about
giving myself and my resources freely - but that was more by example than
anything else! I love my mom!
I
hope you enjoyed reading these little nuggets of wisdom. I find advice from
other mothers to be fun. I love hearing how people live their lives and
sometimes I even take the advice they dish out! Advice can be highly entertaining,
completely crazy, or precisely what you need to hear at the time. I find it
best when the advice I get is all three at once!

is the best advice your mom ever gave you?
