Getting Back My Body!

I am looking forward to my 6 week checkup this Friday. I know, not something you typically hear. What normal sane person looks forward to going to the lady doctor and being examined? Well… I do! Here is why: Once I get the okay from my doctor  I can start my fitness journey back to my pre-pregnancy body.

I am hoping that I will have an easier go of it this time around. The last time I gave birth I got into some trouble with my doctor. I was told to rest and take it easy. I didn’t think that I needed to do this, it was optional. Apparently it was not optional. Feeling fat was not a good enough excuse to work out like crazy after having a baby. I was yelled at and told to rest. It took me months to lose the weight I put on. I was not one of those elastic women that simply snap back from pregnancy. I went running and did fitness DVDs and exercise video games with my Wii. I felt like it took forever to get my pre-pregnancy pants buttoned and wearable in public. You know skin tight pants are not flattering on anyone! Spandex is a privilege, not a right. I do not have the right to wear spandex; at least not where people can see me.

This time around I have my ugly workout clothes ready and waiting. I have been very good about resting and taking it easy. I have not been exercising like crazy. Yes my house is pretty clean most of the time, but I have been trying to not be so anal retentive about organization. My birthday is this week and I am getting a bicycle for my birthday. I bought myself an elliptical off of craigslist this last summer and am ready to dust it off and get running. I am mentally preparing for the lack of sweets in the house. Because let me be perfectly clear, if it is out of sight it is out of mind. If there is a cookie in the house I will eat it. Hello fruits and veggies, goodbye sugary deserts.

I have a very strong feeling that after my first excursion back into an exercise regime will leave me wheezing and with weak knees. It should be pretty entertaining. I will keep you posted as to my progress.

Any tips, tricks, or words of encouragement? Leave a post.
