Who needs a stairmaster when you are sleep training a baby?

My husband and I have stated to sleep train our infant.

Steven is now three month old and a sleep schedule is stating to emerge. Say it with me... Hooray! Mama needs some sleep. Up until this pointSteven has been sleeping in his pack and play right next to ME. Now we are transitioning him into his crib. Although it is very stressful for me, it has to be done.

No more sleeping in the activity swing. No more sleeping in the bouncer seat. Sleepy time will be taking place in the crib. I am running up and down my stairs twenty times a day! I go from my basement to the second floor and back each and every time. By the end of sleep training my gluteus maximus should be in the best shape ever.

FYI - Steven really likes to be held. Steven really likes to be held by mommy.

He will be in a dead sleep and the minute I put him in his crib he wakes up. He wakes up and he screams bloody murder. You would think that I pinched him (I did NOT pinch him). We do the whole wait five minutes to soothe, then wait ten minutes to soothe, then wait fifteen minutes to soothe. And so on and so forth. Have I mentioned that listening to my children cry is like listening to someone rake their nails down a  chalkboard. I really struggle with sleep training!

For some reason my husband is awesome at this whole sleep training thing. Crying does not phase him in the least. My husband spends more time training me than he does the baby. "Laura, sit back down. It has not been five minutes yet." This gets repeated a lot in my home. I am ready for my baby to sleep in his crib and sleep through the night. I am even more ready to be done with sleep training.

Although sleep training works, I am not a fan of the process. I want to pick up my son and cuddle him and soothe him whenever I hear him cry. I wish it were easier. Sometimes I sneak upstairs to soothe the baby when my husband isn't paying attention.

This sleep training is for the birds!

With that being said, Steven woke only once last night to feed at 3:50am! We are making progress!

  1. You can do it! It's not easy, I know, but so worth it! That is great he's already adjusting!
