My family is a very active family. We try to be as healthy as possible, whenever possible. We drink water, milk, and juice instead of soda pop and we try to consume healthy snacks as opposed to sugary sweet treats. We love to be outdoors when the weather permits playing games and running around. So when we found out that the Simple Service project for April was a “Game Day Challenge” we were ecstatic!
This month I am partnering with Odwalla and Champions for Kids for another SIMPLE Service Project. This project is centered on the idea of being healthy and being active with Odwalla {#OdwallaCFK}. The SIMPLE Service challenge for the month of April is to gather sports equipment for Champions For Kids and incorporate Odwalla and donate them to a local charity of your choice that aids children.
Since my children and their friends are too young to be in any organized sports we decided that we were going to purchase items at Walmart to donate to a local church that is active in the community. We chose a church that hosts various programs created specifically for children. For our “Game Day Challenge” we decided to put together a healthy lifestyle kit. We would include an Odwalla beverage, a healthy snack, and some equipment for getting outdoors and being active.
We made a list {I never leave home without a list!} and we checked it twice. We made snacks for the road and took a trip to Walmart to buy our healthy lifestyle kit. We lucked out when we parked right next to a double occupancy child cart! The children drank their milk and ate their snacks as I navigated the store in search of everything on our list. Although not everything was easy to find at first {the Odwalla juice is not in the juice aisle- but instead located in the refrigerated section of the store}, but eventually we were able to locate it all!
